Interlibrary loans

If we don't have the specific book that your seek you can request an interlibrary loan. This means that we borrow the book from a library outside of Gotland, and then we lend the book to you. 

We follow the interlibrary loan recommendations from Kungliga biblioteket (National Library of Sweden). 

Almedalsbiblioteket is also one of the libraries that Kungliga biblioteket sends their audiovisual media to. Since their collections includes copyrighted material, other rules are enforced. See Swedish Media Database (SMDB) for more information. 

Please note that:

• To request an interlibrary loan you need to be 18 years old and have a library account.
• Interlibrary loans have a cost. See the price list further down on this page.
• Media which is available at any of our libraries on Gotland cannot be requested as interlibrary loans.
• In-house loans or other types of reference materials cannot be requested as interlibrary loans.
• E-media, Video Games, Computer games, and Films cannot be requested as interlibrary loans. 
• Textbooks/course literature and other study materials can be difficult to obtain as interlibrary loans. Please contact the library at your school/university first for help. 
• An interlibrary loan may have a shorter loan period than our own books. It is the lending library that determines how long the loan period will be. 
• It can take 1–2 weeks for your interlibrary loan to be delivered to us. We cannot control the delivery time nor guarantee that an interlibrary loan will be available by a specific date. 
• If your interlibrary loan is damaged or lost, you will need to pay a replacement fee. The lending library determines the fee. 

Price list for interlibrary loans

Books

50 SEK/loan for requests from within the Nordic countries. 
200 SEK/loan for requests from outside of the Nordic countries.

Copies

20 SEK/article + 1 SEK/page for copies from within the Nordic countries. 
100 SEK/article for copies from outside of the Nordic countries. 

How do I request an interlibrary loan?

1. Create a user account in Libris
2. Find the thing that you want to request
3. Press the button "Request"
4. Press the button "Skicka beställning"

You will receive a response via Libris about how your request is handled. 

Ask the library staff if you need help with your request! 

Where do I pick up my interlibrary loan?

Interlibrary loans are picked up and borrowed at the information desk on the library you have chosen as your pickup location. You will receive a notification when your requested loan is ready for pickup. After that you have 2 weeks to come and get it.  

How do I renew an interlibrary loan?

Contact us by fjarrlan.bibliotek@gotland.se. We will contact the lending library and see if it is possible to renew your loan. Please let us know some time before your due date to avoid any overdue fines.
